sylvester stallone

sylvester stallone-2-820x1024Canadian journalist David Morrell invented the Green Beret "John Rambo" character. The book was later adapted by Stallone to appear for the role in First Blood (1982), with Richard Crenna (and Brian Dennehy). This movie, which surprised audiences with its controversial commentary about the Vietnam war that was new in American minds, was a huge commercial success. What ever political beliefs, Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) was an immediate success. It garnered more criticism from a variety of sources due to the storyline of American MIAs that were held in Vietnam. The film's creators insist that negative publicity doesn't exist. John Rambo's return to the ring turned out to be a major revenue-maker for Stallone. The film affirmed his place as one of America's top male celebrities of 1980s. Stallone experienced a huge surge in popularity and has called Rocky Balboa his old sparring partner. The actor returned to the ring to defend American pride against the Soviet threat, which was a Russian boxer who was dubbed Ivan Drago (played by curt Dolph Ludgren ) in Rocky IV (1985). The fourth outing was somewhat controversial among "Rocky" fans, as the violence level was a bit excessive in comparison to the previous "Rocky" films, and particularly due to the brutal beating sustained in the hands of Apollo Creed, played by Carl Weathers, at the hands of the unstoppable "Siberian Express".
